  1. I was trying to make a backup copy of Little Black Book tonight and got the following error:

    DeviceIoControl(FSCTL_LOCK_VOLUME) Failed!
    Device: [1:0:0] PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-108 1.18 ( D: ) (ATA)
Unable to lock volume for exclusive access.
    Reason: Access is denied.

That's the first time I've ever seen this type of error, and I have no idea what it means. I clicked on Retry several times, and then finally chose Ignore. The disc is currently burning and we'll see if it works or not.

When ripping, I do remember Decrypter saying something about 18 suspect areas, but it ripped it okay. And Shrink had no problems re-compressing. The problem sprung when it tried to burn. Also, just FYI, I have Shrink setup to save in ISO format and then burn with Decrypter.

    Can someone please explain this?

Not sure. Sometimes what works is to open the disc first with a player. Then close the player and go right to the rip app

Sounds like time for a reboot. Wanna bet it'll work then ?

  4. Oddly enough, after I chose the "Ignore" option on the pop up error screen, the movie continued to burn. I slapped it into the ole Xbox a few minutes ago and it is working fine.

Just FYI, I rarely play any movies prior to ripping or burning. Yesterday was no different. I did rip and shrink 2 movies prior to doing Little Black Book. Perhaps the computer did need a reboot. I just don't understand why. I've left my computer on for days rippping & backing up movies w/o this error before.

Oh well, I guess the good news is that it worked. I am still curious why I got the error. If someone knows, please post why.
