I've been burning with DVD Shrink for quite a while now, but lately every movie I try, with every different type of media I've tried (Maxell, Sony, & Verbatim) burns about 75 to 80% of the disc. DvdShrink doesn't show any errors, quite the contrary it says burning completed successfully. I can look at the back of the disc and see approximately how much has burned, then of course when I put it in a standalone player it starts up but the last few chapters of the movie aren't there. Any ideas about what's going wrong? I'm using DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15, and Nero 6.6.0.1. Any help will be extremely appreciated.

Upgrade Nero to the newest version and don't burn the disc right away.

Launch Nero 6.6.0.6 and burn the files

Forgive me for being stupid, but I've never burned a DVD with Nero as a stand alone program before, which files should I burn after I shrink the movie?

The VIDEO_TS folder needs to be burned for a movie. I don't use Nero. I use Recordnow Max.

Thanks for the info, it looks like it will be tomorrow before I know if it works or not, that Nero update is gonna take a looooong time to download, I've still got dial-up (don't laugh).

Use Shrink to output to an .ISO file

    Burn the image using DVDDecrypter

If you have problems with this method, you have problems with your media or with your burner

I suspect if it was a burning problem and it just stopped before it was fininished, the disk would not play at all. I assume you are using Nero to burn from shrink, if so, it creates a temp directory with all the files that are burned. Try playing those to see if all the chapters are there.

  8. Do you mean the movie burns 80%, and then gives you an error or does it burn fine and the movie will only play 80%?

I've had a lot of trouble with Nero burning movies with three different LG burners. I only use clone DVD to burn the movies now.

I also had troubles with cheaper media. It would play most of the movie, and near the end. It would start skipping.

Thanks for the info everybody. I've got to admit that I haven't taken the time to do much experimenting with the different ways of burning. I discovered DvdShrink early on and it worked so well for me for so long I got lazy, always had the opinion that 'if it ain't broke don't fix it'. Times like these are the ones that force me to learn a little more though I guess. Thanks everybody again!

  11. How large (in MB) are your copies? I have found that DVD Shrink only copies 4,374 MBs to a single sided disk. At least with the media I use.
I guess it needs a certain amount of space to close the disk. So I never go over 4,350 MBs to a disk. And this works for me.

I'm pretty sure I figured out what my problem was. Shrink and Nero were both set to record at the maximum speed, my burner maxes out at 4x, but the discs were all rated up to 8x. For some reason Nero was trying to burn at 8x. I dropped the speed and got it to burn fine.
