I have been using Nero fine up till now but lately it seems to have this very unusual and very frustrating problem. I tried to do a search on this, but so far every Nero problem that I have found has an error message associated with it.
If the buffer level ever reaches 0% while burning Nero just decides to quit working. I do not get a buffer under error, Nero gives me no kind of error message. It just stops responding. I look in the task manager, to see if maybe it is secretly working in the background. But nothing, 0% CPU usage. Then the only way to stop it is to Ctrl+Alt+Del and then end task on it. I even let it sit overnight in case I just wasn't letting it finish, but it was faithfully stuck at the same percentage, and no error messages.
My system:
Windows XP SP1
1.3 Ghz Athlon XP
1 GB RAM
Nero Version 6.3 (I can supply the full version if necessary)
LiteOn 832S (newest firmware)
Ritek GO4 4x DVD-R's
Here is what I have tried so far:
Rebooted and tried again, same problem
Checked the DMA channel, setup correctly
Switched to slower burning speed, 2x, still stops
Checked the buffer level in Nero, set to 80 MB (and won't let me go above that)
Not sure what else to check for or if there is a setting that will increase my cache to avoid this. The DVD I am attempting to back up is Star Wars Episode V, in case there are some quirky issues with it. I am almost ready to switch to another program such as CopyToDVD or write image files and burn with Decryptor. However, before I did that I wanted to see if anyone had any ideas. Does Nero create any sort of useful log that could help on this? Thank you![]()

Curious, what changes have you done to your system up to the point where Nero stopped working correctly? Maybe selecting a restore point just prior to any suspected change will help isolate the problem.

I believe the last change I made was to update the sound driver (Sound Blaster Value!) and run windows update (which I hadn't done ever since I installed XP, so there were alot of updates).
I will definitely have to try the restore point. Thank you
