    When I try to play .mpeg, .dat files on my computer on Windows Media Playerm DIVX player or Win DVD, I get parts of every movie, that freeze. It will hang there for a couple of seconds to a couple of minutes.

    All .mpeg and .dat files, or just specific ones? If it is all of them, you most likely have a bad codec.
