    Hello,
    My current set-up is

    IDE1: Master: HDD
    IDE1: Slave: Pioneer 108

    IDE2: Master: DVD-ROM

I have read another post and I am wondering if my set-up is good.

Should I leave the HDD alone on IDE 1 and move the pioneer to IDE2 master and DVD-Rom to IDE2 slave?

What will I gain if I do that?

I do not burn on the fly.

    Thanks

The Pioneer should be master and most would suggest putting the DVDRom as slave to the HDD, however if you don't burn on the fly I guess slave to the 108 would be fine.

Personally I would have the HDD(s) running off of RAID/SATA and both the DVDRom and Pioneer as master. Well actually I would also buy a cheap Asus or Lite-On CDRW for burning CD's.

If your not having issues leave it.
With that said, I would have the 108 setup on IDE2 as master and then move the DVD-Rom to slave on IDE2. This way you will be ready to add another HD on IDE1 as slave.

My HDD is not SATA although my MB does support it (asus A7V600-X), but the motherboard setup for SATA is designed to have two HDDs (raid 0 or 1).

Yup, I do not have issue but, as the old saying goes: why not try to fix it when it's not broken? :P I think zook had something like this in his signature...
Seriously, I do not intend to add another HDD (120gig is enough for now), just want to make sure mine is optimal.
BTW, the thread you've mentioned is the one I was referring to.

So I conclude that it will be better to move the dvdrw to IDE 2, master.
    I'll do it.
