I know this isn't huge news as we all know the faster the processor, the faster the encode. But, I was surprised how linearly the encoding time is related to the CPU speed. I have a 1.7Ghz chip and it remains nearly perfectly linear up through about 2.1Ghz. It's almost like you could predict how much time you could save if you bought a faster chip. I guess you would have to take into account the chip architecture though. Like going to a Prescott from a Northwood chip. Just food for thought...
