  1. It'll happen every now and then when I'm rifling thru folders or just right clicking on one. I'll get a popup prompting me to close it. Anyone else have this problem and know a solution?

  5. one of the reasons I run linux part time now. I would try using system restore to see if that will help. If your sure its not some type of spyware you could try doing a non-destructive reinstall as well.

  6. I just reloaded XP "on top of itself" so to speak and that fixed all the probs I had cause by the uninstall of XP SP2.

  7. That's probably what I will need to do because I can't find a solution. So far I've run 3 spyware, adware programs and 2 antivirus programs without much luck.

  8. Explorer just randomly ends task for me alot too. I was doing some video-editing today and it shut down 3 times! I don't have any spyware on here, it might just be a flaw in windows (it wouldn't suprise me).

Before, you reinstall over the top, I'd recommend booting to your XP CD and running chkdsk /r from the reovery console. This can fix a lot of issues without touching anything profile related. Sometimes installing over the top creates changes you may not necessarily want or need.

Boot to the XP CD and choose R for repair. When it opens the recovery console, it may ask you for the administrator password. When you get the C:> prompt just enter in 'chkdsk /r' without the quotes and let it run. Nothing to lose really and it may solve the problem altogether.
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore.
