    Hello,

    ARGHHHH!!!!!

I was finally getting around to converting a chapter from a dvd to wav because I want to make it into an audio cd. Now instead of buying a "dvd audio ripper" I wanted to use dvd decrypter and besweet because I've done it successfully before with these two freeware programs.

I kept trying to rip wih decrypter and I couldn't get it to demux just the ac3 file (forgot how in the stream processing menu). I was actually able to demux JUST the audio into a vob.

So I go and click "VOB TO WAV"...... NOTHING! I do it again, and again, and again... NOTHING STILL!!!!

So I go online and check it out. Nothing obvious at first. Check out and sign in to the dvd decrypter forum. No luck. I look up besweet in the guides here - nothing out of the ordinary. So I go to besweets website.

I see the "PLUGINS" tab on the tab and think - ah maybe that's it. So I see the ssrc, lame, azid, and etc... So I get those and load them in and - NOTHING STILL! Not wanting to concede defeat by posting here I kept trying. I was getting an error log but not reading it. After clicking the "VOB TO WAV" button it would pause for a moment and pop up the finish log. Though it had done NO processing.

So after AGONIZING over this for almost two hours I finally noticed something on the log after the failed conversion - ERROR MISSING VOBINPUT.DLL DUH!!!!! It couldn't READ the VOB without!!!! What an idiot I was. I could have saved two hours if I JUST READ THE ERROR LOG!!!!!!

Oh man I need to go get some sleep - Luckily I have Friday off otherwise I would have been in bed since 9:30 or 10 last night

Anyway the moral of the story???? RTFM!!!!!! (or in my case the ERROR LOG!!!)

    Kevin

    GOOD NIGHT

EDIT - this was partly because when I transfered my files from my old computer to my new computer I transfered the "extra" besweet files. BUT I FORGOT to load them in the program!!!

    Hello,

    Thanks

Yeah I was up later than normal and full of caffeine so I wasn't thinking clearly. Usually I don't do complicated stuff like that so late because I know I'll screw something up that should be simple.

ANYWAY I'm just pointing out that I LOOKED for the answer before crying for help here. I know where to look and how to solve things. SO I answered it myself.

(though the computer forums different - I'm new to wireless )

Sometimes ya can't see the forest for the trees.
Been there, done that. Working late can be a
    bugger.
Some time back I converted tapes to dvd for 2
different families. I did all the artwork for the cases
and they turned out stellar. I then proceeded to
put the dvd's in the wrong cases and delivered
them. DUH!!!! The families actually enjoyed
watching each others home vids, but did in the end
want their own back. No more late night serious
    stuff for me.

    Happy New Year

As long as we are admiting to silly mistakes. I once thought my new iMac had a dead modem because I couldn't see the ports and plugged them in blindly. I put the phoneline into the network jack.

Damn my sides hurt after hearing that. I'm wincing in pain and still can't stop laughing. The tears are streaming down. [Doramius trying to calm down with a whimpering laugh] oooh-hoo-hoo hmmm heh eh.

Please don't. That's my rant thread

j/k ... feel free to add it ...

I'm planning to do an edit of my initial rant to add a few more points that I didn't think of during my 6 hour session writing the initial post.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Look who's getting all possesive about a rant thread he initially claimed he didn't need!

Feels good to get it all out, don't it?

Anyone else notice how patient and nice Jimmy's been to noobs lately after the rant? His responses are so sweet they're giving me cavities.

    (I especially liked "Yo Mama")

I *still* claim that I didn't need it for my own psychological well-being, moreso that I felt that the forums needed it as a periodical reminder ....

    and I live ..... to give ....

I thought I'd better start practising what I preach ...
