    Hi

I have windows xp and MovieMaker 2 but when I try to load the mpeg file it crashes. How can I convert mpeg2 file to DV AVI using the Microsoft DV AVI codec? (Microsoft DV AVI is not presented in the codec list of virtualdub).

    Thanks

Install the Panasonic DV Codec and that will work in Virtualdub

I don't know if it's the best, but it's pretty damn good.

There is a slight variation in the way the DV looks, depending on what codec you use and different people have different opinions on which look they like. The Panasonic codec is used by many and its free. Try it and see what you think.

    Ask them ?

weird that they would say that as in thier own lit. they switched from using it (premiere 5) to a proper one ...

anyway - if you search around you will find several very good DV codec comparisons and the MS one is always rated the worse ...
