Just converted an mpeg file to vcd and svcd using ffmpegx and
my dvd player (desay ds-5701) can't read it even though it does
read other vcd's i've done with a dual deck.

I am using ffmpegx 0.0.9k and used the "fast svcd" preset.

    Can anyone help??? THANKS!!!

  2. Some DVD players may not like SVCD/VCDs made with ffmpeg engine, as they may include bitrate peaks (even more important in older versions like 0.0.9k). Use mpeg2enc engine.

That player ought to play either fine.

Maybe ....bad media, or something wrong in the presets. Try manually authoring the files. Check the "What Is" section for the allowed resolutions, bitrates and audio formats/settings and double-check your settings, changing as needed. then try again. If it fails again, I'd say you might have a player/media incompatibility issue

Thanks major & cap!!! the media is fine...it worked with a family slide show i gave everyone for christmas...so, it must be the birate issue...mpeg2enc. is on the list as MPEG (mpg)
    (mpeg2enc) correct?

  5. In fact in ffmpegX 0.0.9k you should select the quick preset named "DVD hi-bitrate".
