  1. Hey there i'm a first time poster and newbie so please be gentle!

I've checked the forums as best i can and couldnt find a fix for this si i'm posting here. All help will be appreciated.

I recently acquired an avi file in a foreign language and was able to also get the srt subtitles for it. I needed to use subtitle workshop (i think is what i t was called) to do a bit of tweaking to the subs to fit the avi perfectly.

I can watch the avi on my pc due to the manner in which most media players are able to recognise and play the subtitles. So i wanted to burn the avi to a vcd.

Having done a bit of research on this site i was able to use TMPGEnc to encode the subtitles to the avi file and convert to mpeg. This worked but removed the audio.

I dont know enough about all the various tools and so forth that are available here. And i dont have the time to really get into them and learn how they work. Which is why the guides are great.

So if anyone could help with either one of the following it would be great:

1- Is there a better way to take an avi file and an srt file and make a vcd out of them?

    or

2- What do i need to do to get the process i have used to pick up the audio as well.

Any information you want me to post i will go and do so. As a matter of fact i will pretty much do all that is asked for me in order to get this to work as i need urgently require this to work.

    Many, many thanks in advance,

    Gareth

tmpgenc can't handle all kind of audio so

convert the audio to wav and use the wav as audio source in tmpgenc
you can use goldwave or virtualdub

and visit www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc#problems if you get any tmpgenc problems.
