    I have come to the conclusion that Nero Recode sucks! I don't understand why any disc that I recode with Nero causes problems on my computer? First, I can't access images which I create with Nero Recode. Second, discs that I have burned with files created by Nero Recode are not recognized on my computer after they are burned! (i.e. - I burn them sucessfully, but I can't watch them on my computer). The crazy thing is, anything I create with DVD Shrink works great?

    Anybody else have issues?

    The obvious is to not use Recode then.

    It is not rocket science.

    If you use all caps in your title again, you deserve what you get.

    All caps is considered rude, aggressive, annoying and shouting.

    What is wrong with all caps?

    You should not use ALL CAPS when using Internet applications. This is important! If you use all caps you are YELLING at someone, not emphasizing a point. Unless you really are upset and wish to yell at someone, use normal sentence case. Internet users can be very touchy about this. They will know you are a newbie and if they are in a bad mood they may send you a nasty reply (flame) or get others to spam you.

    Sorry... It's just that I WAS upset... I'll try not to let it happen again. Anyway, it sucks that Nero is such a great program, but that it is obviously not compatible with my system. My intention was to maybe find some advice or tweaks to make it work... I wonder why DVD Shrink works, though? Isn't the same author?

  6. Shrink does not burn. It only allows you to shrink a file to where another program can burn it to dvd. I agree with you about the recode. I've never gotten it to work. I use Decrypter to burn the dvd after Shrink finishes. Found it to be a lot better for me.

  7. don;t use it, like me

    I use Nero for cd's and that;s it, the dvd side is for other "heavy duty" programs.

    I've always had CopyToDVD as a backup for burning. I really like it. It's so easy to use. :P Anyway, thanks for the feedback everyone...

  10. You guys do realize that shrink and recode are actually the same piece of software, done by the same guy? (shrink is kind of beta-test for recode)

    Anyway, your problem is only with the newest version of the package; do as I did: uninstall the whole nero-package and reinstall the previous version: voilà, everything works again.

    How come people still (try to) use Nero at all, as they have kept this "strategy" up since day 1? Amazing!

    So what is the consensus? Use Recode or Shrink?

    I agree. I upgraded to the latest version of Nero, and Recode made junk images and ROM wouldn't even burn anything. Uninstall and back to normal.

  14. Sounds like a compatibility issue. I just ripped ELF w/ DVDDecrypter 3.5.1.0 and then used Recode from Nero Reloaded 6.6.0.3 with beautiful results. After upgrading to a newer version of a program, I always run a registry fixer to clean out invalid entries and then defrag the registry then resart the computer for a fresh start. Just my 2 cents worth.

    @thehotrod, most will say DVDShrink and if you can live without the extra features of Recode.

    The lesson with Nero for users is that if it works for you, keep your old 'working' version handy so you can reinstall it if the upgrade doesn't work

    it all depends on how you express that lesson to your pupil but it looks like I missed the initial postings so I can't really say much unless they weren't edited

    CAPS in a thread title by someone just shows frustration (I can understand it even more being Nero ) but at least it wasn't the whole post. Regardless of where the CAPS are anyway, to say you deserve what you get in a post, means you gotta be frustrated enough yourself to kick up a fuss about something as trivial as that

    a simple p.s. to remind someone about CAPS etiqutte is simple enough and guaranteed not to offend anyone

    p.s. end of todays lesson

    Hi. The only thing that comes to mind, is that Nero Recode dosnt decrypt etc...So it wont work on a copyright protected disk.

  19. What are you trying to process? DVD to compressed DVD or Nero Digital? If you are trying to process Nero Digital are you using the proper file type when you burn. Nero Digital files are .MP4 files and should be written as UDF/ISO.

    This really sounds like it's copyright protected, and that is one big diff between shrink and Nero.

    Again, this could as well be caused by copy protection..I'm not exactly sure how Nero Recode works, never used it.. So not sure if it'll even proceed with a copy protected disc? But this is what it sounds like to me...You cant watch them on your computer, because it was never a working rip in the first place..

    If I am right about the CSS issue...Shrink would still work great, as it beats most discs copy protection...(I've never had it unable to do so...but I have heard some people make a claim some discs shrink simply wont work on.)

    Agreed - to a point. I say never upgrade unless you need the ever more exotic formats Nero tries to provide. We already know it provides more and more bugs with each 6.x version - so why bother?

    I tried Recode. Once. Dialogue box after dialogue box of 'you need to purchase x plugin to use this feature', or some such bollocks. Ahead is an established company - they need to adhere to the law if they want to stay afloat without lawsuits affecting their business. This means that everything needs to be licensed, meaning you pay for it or no go.

    I really don't get why so many people go on about using something 'better' than DVD Shrink (which works!) when they're making backups:

    So you have a DVD and you want to make a copy so your original is safe. OK. So use Shrink. Sure it's never perfect, relatively speaking. It's a backup! If you're really in the mood to see a film without any pixellation, etc. on a special occasion, try something original - like watch the original. Think of how many times you can live without bending your precious disc out of its case compared to the amount of times you can throw your copy around the room. Surely people can live with watching the original maybe twice in the disc's lifetime as opposed to copying it the second they get it and re-shrinkwrapping it and hermetically sealing it and storing it away in a dungeon.

    I understand some people may have huge TV sets where degradation is fairly obvious but you win some, you lose some. If you can afford such a huge TV set - you can afford to re-buy the original DVD you were so careless to destroy by gently removing the disc from its case and gently placing it into the player in the first place. If your child ate the disc, then it's your fault you didn't make a backup of it. Would your child really care if the picture wasn't perfect?

    Erk! /rant off

    Besides, Shrink is free - Recode and its various plugins are not.

    @bazooka, just ignore him mate

    your post does nothing but ignite the flames even more. Judging by your post count surely you would realise this and be able to put any flame out rather than pour petrol on it 8)

    @laspis59, Welcome to the forums

    I recommend you read the rules seeing as that was your first post as if you continue that manner you are probably likely to get warned and then banned

    @anyone else, to put an end to the childish behaviour before it does get outta hand, the next person to post a personal insulting remark afterwards is a sad self abusive loner

    p.s. take the hint and walk away people, nothing to see here unless you actually want to help EMARTY69 with his Nero issue 8)

    LMFAO

    I tried to calm the situation and then you go edits your post to the above . This guy post his first post (which means it could be anyone, even someone in this thread) and you fall for it hook line and sinker by resorting to the above

    I personally have less posts than you and have been here less than you, but that means absolute jackshit to me and anyone else here with a brain (probably you too) but I do like the mommy bit as well

    I guess with all your posts and experience then surely you would just ignore this and be helpful to someone who needs it ;

    now what was all this fuss about again?, oh yes CAPS in thread title

    my oh my what a sad world we live in

    @Josef K, areet mate . No it was nothing to do with you, far from it. I think your post is the only one on topic at the moment

    I'm just teaching anyone who is interested in reading this thread that in forum etiquette, post counts and who was here first doesn't give anyone here the right to anything extra nor does it possess special flaming powers. Strangely enough it says I was here before bazooka as I just assumed that 5000+ posts mean't being here a long time :P. That is some posts per day, means nothing to me but it is a lot

    I've nothing better to do this time of the morning I suppose. I guess I'm just a sad loner at the moment but not self abusive

    @Jimmalenko, nice to see you again as I haven't been around recently (missed the place). I like the avatar and Xmas greetings to you
