  2. backing up ps2 games is simple, you really should use the search feature.

this has been discussed so many times.

  3. yep

they have no copy protection on them so thats all you need to know & use -r media ONLY

  4. actually, they do have copy protection. but making a backup of them that is playable with a modchip/swap method is easy.

  5. i've used + and - on mine, so doesnt really matter which you use. nero should do the job just fine.

  6. I have a few PS2 backups done.

I have used + and - R media and both have worked fine. I think deciding what media to use is related to the PS2 version and your mod chip version, but I could be wrong. I know I have a version 7 (I think) PS2 and I have no idea about my mod chip. But so far, my PS2 has played everything I have put in it. Even some stuff that my standalone (Panasonic RV-32) cant play.

I used Stomp Record Now and got a coaster. I switched to Alcohol 120% and am 3 for 3 so far.

    I have an LG-4040B.

  7. A simple enough question, why not just answer it, instead of bollox
yes you can use nero, but you'll find it far easier to use dvd decrypter to make an iso image of the game then burn to dvdr, you can use + or - dvdr's , but stick to decent discs, to avoid coasters, IE Ritek.

    Hope this helps

  8. No probs. I use Stop Record Now DX with my Sony DRU-500AX. Build an image of the PS2 game using Record Now Max/DX BUT select the read speed to minumum. After image has been created burn image back onto a DVD _/+ (I believe versions 4 and below are capable or reading minus R and above 4 can read any)....although mine is a 4 and will read a plus R movie, not tried a game yet. When burning to DVD select 1x write, slow but you will get a better burn.

Also the quality of the media is very important. DO NOT use cheap disks. I started trying budget disks but the game sometimes took 10 attempts to boot. I now only use Ritek DVD and they boot first time.

  9. i use nero, -r & never had 1 coaster. Burnt over 30 games

  10. "actually, they do have copy protection"

I was just keeping it simple, not to get into the complexities. If I say no copy protection then people can just copy otherwise we would spend hours trying to explain how it really works.

What chip and what version ps2 do you have
Tru crimes works great on my version 7 with magic 3.1 and my version 7 with a messiah 2 ver 1.3

Easiest way I know of is to use DVD Decrypter.

    Using DVD Decrypter

    1. Start DVD Decrypter
    2. Select Mode, go down to ISO Read
    3. Select your Reader & Destination
    4. “Decrypt” the ISO Image to the Hard Drive
    5. Wait for the ISO Image to be made
    6. Select Mode, go down to ISO Write
    7. Select the ISO Image file you made, click “Open”
    8. Select your Burner, Write speed & Burn the ISO

Remeber You'll need a mod chip to actually play your backups

I'm not sure why you are using DVD Decrypter to copy PS2 games. That might have something to do with your problem.

I have a Messiah 2 chip. I backed up True Crime just like I backed up every other PS2 game I own: I placed True Crime in my DVD ROM, a blank DVD-R in my DVD burner, opened Nero and hit "copy disc." I burned at 1x and I have had no problems with the backup.

It seems to me that some people are making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

That is your problem there are at least 20-30 games that wont with swap magic unless you use the cogswap loader disk and this is one of those games.

What you need is a device called a swap disc and flip top cover to play your leagally owned ps2 games, you can find that product at www.maxwaves.com I haved purchased 2 items from them with great results and good customer service. And the good thing about that product is no mod chips and it's easy to use.

  23. blue bottom discs,-copy disc in nero, but some are slightly bigger than normal cds,so invest in a few 800meg-90mins cds.
the latest one i had like that was sega superstars for the eyetoy.
as for silver bottomed dvds, dvddecrypter, iso read, iso write.
simple,if it then doesnt work, its the media,or your mod chip

thats it plain and simple in a nutshell.
if you want to ask about copy pretected games, your talking about a different console, not the ps2.
ive not come across a game i cant copy this way,and that didnt work like this

    Blue bottom disks are cds
There are no ps2 cd based games that are over 650mb AFAIK

If you are having problems copying and playing your blue bottom disks then your swap magic cd (not the swap magic dvd) is probably defective
or you might want to try different media
