I have an optorite dvd writer which i have used for about a year probably burning 600 or so dvd's. I,m now having problems where nero says burn complete but unable to play disc.
Could this be caused by my burner finally getting tired or is it the media. I'm using Ridata with ritek g04 dye.
I've never had many problems with just a few coasters but my latest batch which are printable seem to be having problems could be co-incidence but i'm not sure.
Is there a shelf life for dvd burners.

The quality of Ritek discs has deteriorated recently, as a forum search will confirm.
A number of people have reported up to 3,000 burns or more on certain burners.
Your firmware may have got corrupted and need re-flashing.
The laser lens may be dirty and require cleaning. If in doubt, Google it.
