  1. hi all,

I bought the pioneer 108 drive a few months back and love it. I just realized from another post that I am burning at 4x not 8x. I bought the TY's from rima.com 8x discs but A full disc takes about 15-16 minutes to burn. Anyone know why this happens. ]

Oh...i am using dvd architect 2.0a to burn. I indicate 8x speed but it still takes 15 min.

check the mode that the device is running at.. look in device manager then look under ide devices.. then goto advance.. loo to see what mode the dvd burner is running at.. if its doing 4x then its still prolly DMA but maybe dword or dma 2? either way.. might want to check.. if its not DMA 4 or 5 then delete the ide channel and reboot it will find it again.. it should be DMA 4 or 5 then.. if not.. then it could be a bad 80wire/40 pin cable. OR a bad batch of media.. TY from what ive been reading have gotten progressivly worse lately.. look around.. if hte media is not up to par the burner will slow down to correct errors.. also use a tool to make sure that you actually have TY not some fakes.. dvdinfo tool should help you..
