I'm trying to convert an AVI into Mpeg(DVD) using TMPGEnc, and the video converts fine, but there's no audio. I've tried changing the priority of the DirectShow thing up and down but either way doesn't solve the problem. I also installed the AC3 Decompressor, but that didn't do it either.

What else do I need to do?

Extract the audio to wav and use that as the audio source for TMPGEnc.
    Guide here.

Identify what type of audio you have. If it's MPEG-1 Layer 3 VBR audio, then do as ZippyP says. If not, post a screenschot from GSpot or AVICodec back here, and we'll go from there.
    If in doubt, Google it.

It says that it uses "AC-3 ACM Decompressor".

I was wondering if it was a good idea to convert it to .wav first, because the audio and video might not match up perfectly.

TMPGEnc Plus cannot re-encode AC3, but what you can do is demux this from the file using Virtualdubmod (open the file, go to streams > stream list, and click demux), then encode just the video part in TMPGEnc (to create a M2V file) and then use your authoring software to join the M2V and the AC3 you demuxed back together.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Here's a guide by Baldrick (the site admin.) that explains how to convert your avi w/AC3 to a DVD w/AC3.

    Good luck.

Cool, thanks...and this will ensure that there won't be any audio-sync problems?

That can never be ensured. As soon as you separate audio from video, there's a risc that you will get sync issues later on. However, this is easily fixed (once spotted) by adding some silence/cutting a little at the start of the audio.
