  1. Hi,

I own a Pioneer DVR-5100H DVD recorder and I am having problems playing discs created with this device on other DVD drives such as my pc one and my LG DVD player downstairs.

The discs play fine on my Pioneer but not at all on any other device, always get a no disc inserted message.

I use RiDisc 4x DVD-R discs, my DVD recorder is PAL format.

What am I doing wrong, what settings should I use for better results?

    Thanks for any help.

There are usually two modes when recording using a standalone player. One is more compatible than the other for play back on other devices. You also have to make sure you finalise the disk before trying to play it back in another player.

If you put it in your PC, what files do you see on it ?

  5. Most recorder has 2 modes: DVD-Video and DVD-VR.

DVD-Video is normally what we called DVD, and this video format could be supported by stand alone DVD players.

DVD-VR is re-editable DVD, could be supported by -VR recorders and a few players.

Make sure what you made is DVD-Video not DVD-VR.

If your recorder doesn't have DVD-Video mode, you can use software to convert DVD-VR into DVD-Video.

As I know neoDVD 6.0 has -VR module can let you to edit/create -VR or convert -VR into DVD-Video/MPEG-2 format. Below is the introduction of neoDVD 6.0: http://www.mediostream.com/products/index_neodvd.html
