  1. anyone know of a program that will allow me to edit out some bad frames on an asf file? I normally use VDUB MP3 FREEZE but it wont open the file.
I have tried VDUB 1.4c but it crashes when it hits the bad frames during the block conversion process.

  2. I've got a 1.5.4 version of VirtualDub with ASF support - I can't remember where I downloaded it from - have a look on google.

    cheers,

  3. I cannot find a 1.5.4. with asf support but i already have 1.4c with asf support. The problem i have is with the crash when it hits the bad frames. Is there another program out there that will allow me to edit out the bad frames like i can with V-Dub? and will let me actually open the file, edit, than resave the edited copy?

  4. Yeah, I read what you'd said about VirtualDub crashing - I just thought a different version of it with ASF support might be more stable & let you do your editing.

I don't really know of any free alternatives to VirtualDub which do a similar job.

When I've come across avi's before which have such bad errors that they cause VirtualDub to crash, I've tried to find the location of the bad segments (presuming that it only crashes when it actually tries to preview them) and then mask the bad sections, using Goto (Ctrl + G) to jump around rather then using the slider.

If masking doesn't work, you could try splitting the file up with VirtualDub and rejoining only the good parts.

Sorry I can't recommend anything other than trying different things with VirtualDub - AFAIK there aren't many other apps which do a similar job (if we're talking freeware anyway).

    cheers,

    Try AsfTools from http://www.geocities.com/myasftools/

You might fix it, then try reloading the fixed file in VirtualDub 1.4
