  1. Having some resource problems with a game port on my sound card (Turtle Beach Santa Cruz (OEM from a Dell)):

I do not really have experience with resource conflicts... I disabled my serial port (from BIOS) and also my integrated modem and audio are disabled... Don't know if that helps.

How do I resolve this conflict?

    Try this:

Power down, remove all cards except for video and the card with the game port. If there are no other cards, try disabling the built-in functions in the BIOS except the video.

Restart and in Device manager, refresh it. It will reinstall the card and hopefully assign the Memory range the game port wants.

Then power down and reinstall the other cards. Power up and let Windows auto-detect and install the hardware.

If that doesn't work, try unchecking "automatic" from the screen you posted. Try reassigning the address. Sometimes this doesn't work, but give it a try.

  3. I'm gonna try that first method you said, I tried manually assigning ranges but every range was somehow taken... does my mobo lack ranges or something...?

You have to turn it on in the bios.

  7. You need to find out what the device is conflicting with. In device manager choose View -> Resources By Connection. Look in the Input/Output Section for a device with the same memory address. Then you have two options:

    1. If possible disable or remove the offending device.
    2. Uncheck use Automatic Settings and change the memory address to one which is not in use. If this is not possible on the Game Port it may be possible on the other device.

Every time I've had a conflict with a Soundcard, moving the card to PCI slot #3 solved the problem. Try moving it to slot three and move other PCI cards down a notch.

    LS

PS This fixed an issue just last night where a friend's pc would see his audigy card but would never install the drivers. Moved to slot 3 and it found it and is working fine.

When I jumped to XP on this machine, my SoundBlaster Live 5.1 card died. Did not matter what drivers, PCI slot, nothing. Dead. No audio. Board was fine in other systems.

I had to go buy a new one. I got the card you have, Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. It does not have as high a max volume as the SB did, but I don't care to go deaf anyway.

It was installed and working in 5 minutes.

So.... if moving around and new drivers does not work, look at getting another card. Try the SB Live 5.1, maybe it'll work for you.

My BIOS PnP settings does not affect my system, also weird. It's always PnP.

  11. Capmaster's method did not work for me

Also, I tried manually setting values for the resources but I could not find a working range...

In device manager, using Resources by Connection view, I don't even see my sound card there.

I've tried two other PCI slots besides this one, I guess I'll try the rest I have no other PCI cards, just an AGP graphics card.

If it does not work, too bad , but I won't get a new sound card just for the game port...

If you can't find your soundcard look for the device using the range 0200 to 0207 and then your back to the two options I gave you. You are best to look in 'Resources By Connection' view otherwise you'll be there all day.
