  1. I have a problem with converting an svcd to dvd ,the output crashes after a few minutes encoding in main concept and the patrtial mpeg file has glitches that arent in the oringinal source, canopus procoder wont start encoding with the file but the source file looks and plays perfectly i have the latest ffdshow filter installed and the klite codec pack,also powerdvd6 is installed any ideas would be very much aprecciated

    did you rip(moving the svcd heaaders) the svcd to a mpg using isobuster,vcdgear? just copying it from the cd/image may cause problems when converting.

  3. Yes m8 i extracted the mpeg using isobuster using the filter m2f frames only as well as just mounting the disc image in a virtual drive and accessing the mpeg file through the drive in My Computer

    Why convert at all? If your goal is to put it on DVD, use svcd2dvdmpeg - no reencoding needed! Saves you time and quality. And while I'm at it: ffdshow - good , codec packs - evil !

  5. how compatable is svcd2dvdmpeg? in the past i have put mpeg1(vcd)files through tmpg dvdauthor and it wont play in my dvd recorder but my dvd in the bedroom plays it fine,also if the source is widescreen how is the AR when put through svcd2dvdmpeg?

    It's fairly compliant, even if it's out of specs in respect to the DVD standard. Try and see.
    Not sure about this, but i think the AR will carry over to the DVD - it's still mpeg2, right?
    As VCD video is valid as DVD video too, (and TDA converts the audio to be DVD compliant) I can't see why a player shouldn't play it - maybe it doesn't fully support the DVD standard, or something else is awry?

  7. Just tried Svcd2dvdmpg and it defaults the AR to 4:3 Oh well i have managed to solve my original problem by using Xilisoft Video Converter as it uses its own codecs etc i have no probs now
