Here is my problem
1st problem is I have to print 200 covers for a project, that will explain alot
2nd every cover program I have used, including windows' print wizard centers the cover in the middle of the page, requiring me to cut off all four white borders.
Now I was already quite sick of doing this for my own burns. I stopped using scizzors and moved to a sliding cutting thing, and now a 50$ cutting board with that blade thing that swings down.
I have read a few threads here about printing covers with photoshop, and other apps. But none are clear on how to print to the left and top borders thus eleminating 2 borders to cut.
I have photoshop, and am willing to use any program.
Anyone who can solve this for me will be my hero, my wrists and sanity thank you
thank you
thank you

It depends on what version of Photoshop you have. For the latest versions just do file/print with preview. Uncheck center image and click on the picture in the preview and move it to the outer edges. You will most likely have to set borderless in your print settings and not all printers support this. Borderless printing is also problematic depending on the printer. You can get color bleed or smearing on the edge, but its worth a try.
You might want to consider getting some actual cover paper that you can just peel the edges off of. -
Want to reduce cutting?Go buy perforated dvd case inserts and use dvd coverprint...if you print to the edge of letter size paper its gonna be way too big or you got some hugeass cases...using dvd coverprint i only cut top and bottom of my inserts...good luck

I buy Meritlines brand of DVD case cover's (matte).
Use SureThing CD Labeler Deluxe 4. (free download from their website) You can calibrate your printer so you won't have to cut any edges off! -
I second the DVD CoverPrint option. Works great for a $10 software

There are lots of templets for creating covers -
I would suggest you download and try Qimage. It is a print application mostly for professional photograpers that isn't very intuative but worth the time to learn from their excellent tutorials. It give the BEST printouts once set up correctly and will allow you to possition your picture anywhere on the page (assuming your printer will print borderless). You will get BETTER printouts than you can get with Photoshop alone, guaranteed! Go here for the latest version: http://www.ddisoftware.com/qimage/

what size paper are you using?or are you using inserts? -
thank you adam for your response. it was the one i was looking for.
and to the rest of you all I apreciate the replies but I was really looking for a non-premade way, I need to make as much profit as I can.
look at it this way, I pay 10$ for 100 sheets of matte paper, so were saying for my 200 disc project 20$ vs 52$
up until now, I have been using regualr paper, but to bag this client I had to offer him high quality stuff.
FYI Sams club has generic "High Gloss" paper 150 sheet per 18$ and HP premium 23$ for 120
so if you are a fan of glossy you get it for cheaper, 50% or more, just got to cut
if i only produced for myself, I would for up the extra 15 cents and get those.
thanks guys -
Get a paper cutter from Office Max/Depot, or Staples if you haven't already. Make sure it's one with an arm, and not the rolling type. (For others who are reading)
Sam's club also have their card stock at a decent price, if your client isn't demanding glossy, then this paper looks nice behind the plastic on a dvd case.
I use ACDSee, set up a template and click save as default. It will retain all image settings, position, and even printer settings. Then right click on the pictures I want printed, and choose print with ACDSee, no need to load an image into a program, it installs the needed shell extentions. Since my Canons have printer pooling enabled, the load is balanced across all 3. 200 covers should take no time to print, with my setup, I turn out 10 covers in just over a minute. Be sure to have some spare carts ready to swap in
