  1. Is it possible to print to the edge on Ty Watershilds? There seems to be a non printable material at the edge of the disc. These discs are really really good, but this problem take away the perfection of this disc .

I don't understand your problem with the TY watershield disks if they are DVDs. I use them and can print onto the entire white label area with no problems at all. My only suggestion is: do you have your printing software set up to print to the entire white label area of the disk? If so and the ink does not adhere/set, I can only guess that you have a defective batch.

Seems like they are not printable to the edge just like mines. So do you have a trick or other type of discs?
Would love to be able to print to the edge!

  4. On most -- perhaps all -- printable DVD blanks. the printable surface does not quite extend to the physical edge of the disk, leaving a very narrow strip of the underlying non-printable surface showing. On most blanks, that strip is silver. On the TY WaterShield blanks, it is white.

I don't really know, but I speculate that leaving the outer edge uncoated is intended to reduce wear of the printable coating, which is typically much softer than the plastic coating of the disk under it. In the case of the TY-WS blanks, I speculate that the unprintable area is a seal, intended to keep moisture from leaking in at the physically-exposed edge.

Anyway, whatever the purpose, that's the way it is, and you can't print all the way to the outermost physical edge. To my taste, that's not only acceptable but somewhat pleasing. I can underatand that your taste might be otherwise; but I would suggest that the first-class image that you can get on the printable part of the TY blanks more than makes up for it.

Well the quality is outstanding, no doubt!

However Im always try to do my backups looking as near the orginal as possible. This white outer edge make it not look at the orginal, just because the white edge. My Other discs you often cant tell if its backup or not (But they arenīt glossy).

However familyman says he can print onto the entire disc not leaving a white edge

  6. No it is not possible to print on the outer edge(full bleed) When they first came out i thought i had a bad batch but after talking to a rep they told me because the way they are made the ink wont hold at the outer edge. the only waterproof dvds printables are the matte aquaguard ones. They printed edge to edge but i dont buy those anymore so double check

Well, as I stated in my first post, I didn't really understand your problem, and now I do. My prints always leave a tiny white outline at the rim, less than a mm, so I guess I'm not really printing all the way to the edge. I never though of it as a problem, and interpreted your question to be for a much larger area left unprinted. Sorry about the confusion. Happy Holidays!

  8. I dont think of it as a problem either. I wish they were edge to edge but i like the quality. The Aquaguard matte dvd i brought when they first came the quality seems to be fading. Right know im playing with the Light Scribe since i brought 2 new burners. They are nice but i like color and hub printing

As familyman said have a nice holiday i hope you guys got good deals today. The microcenter in my area opened at 6am i got there around 6:15 and waited in line for like 15 minutes to pay for 2 thing sheesh
