why when i burn a vcd is burnit like a .dat file

i really can't make vcd's i try so hard i burn 'em and when i play it at my dvd says no disc my dvd read vcds and when i check the vcds with windows explorer check the files and the mpeg is converted in this Music01.dat

explain your process of makeing your vcd's. are you just burning them as a data disk. what model is your dvd player? what are the files(avi,mpeg1/2,divx)? what are you useing for encoding, and what are you useing to burn?

If you're using Easy CD creator 5.0, then you may be out of luck. I've tried (and created many many many coasters) to try and burn VCD w/ EZCD, to no avail - and Roxio support tells me that that if everything burned properly (according to program), then there is a problem w/ the DVD player. And I know that that ain't true, since all the the VCDs that I've made since then (using Nero), work ! ! !
