  1. Hi

I'm trying to back up a DVD I own, it is scratched and I want to back it up before it gets worse.

I can get all the files off with DVD decrypter apart from, the

    VTS_01_1

    File.

Tried various software and DVD decrypter on slow with ignore read errors, also tried DVD rescue but the scratch it bad.

I can do without the episode that is missing but how do I re-author the DVD without the missing vob, I have tried IFO edit but somewhere one of the files stills refers to the missing vob so DVD shrink won't load it up.

you could try blanking it out with titlesetblanker that way it doesnt know its there...

or you could try:brasso + armorall
apply brasso and let dry...rub out(make sure nothing at all is left)
apply armorall and rub out...and BAM almost a brand new dvd

  3. Fast tip take some toothpaste but it on the scratch and start from the inner part of the DVD and push out to the edge. This will buff the scratch out. You can also get a Disc Doctor they cost about $30.00 dollars they also go by other names CD DR Game DR. and so on.

Our local video stores have what is essentially a pro version of Disk Doctor, which will polish the surface back to smooth. If will get out pretty much any scratch, but it is something you only want to do once to a disk.
