  1. If besides the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders I also have a .txt file with notes in the root directory of the DVD, will this cause conflicts in playing the DVD in the home DVD player? Or this should not be a concern? Thanks.

That is because the player doesn't look in the audio folder. That is reserved for Dvd-Audio. Dvd-Audio is a different format and more often than not you need a special player to read dvd-audio.

  6. The mystery is even greater now. I burned with NERO BURNING ROM the DVD+RW (the brand of the DISC is 100% compatible with my home DVD player) and the player does not recognize it...what could it be? any ideas?

There could be a couple of possibilities.

You might need a firmware update, and your player might not have the capability to read rewritables.

I frequently add what I call "pad" files to the root of burned DVDs. My player will not play a disc that is not at least 4GB, so I just add a few (or a bunch) files-mostly zip files of just random stuff, enough to make up the difference...

    No problems ever

  9. The DVD is 4.32Gb full. Also, the DVD home player is capable of reading DVD+RW, I have many DVD+RW's that I was able to watch using my home player.
