  1. I'm trying to cut out something from a divx5 file in Vdub but I get this poppin up when I open the file I'm trying to edit.

    VBR audio stream detected
VirtualDub has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source AVI file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 405 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the *entire* audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate: 130.4+21.1kbps)

That sounds like a lot of work and I dont even know how to do it. I'm just trying to edit out a piece of this file. Help! I don't want it out of sync

Another option is to load the AVI into GOLDWAVE then save the audio file as a PCM WAV file. Some people (myself included) seem to think this works better than using VirtualDub to extract the audio. At least in the case where the AVI audio is an MP3 audio file.

After that you have a few options as to how to combine the video with the new PCM WAV audio and then edit.

Myself ... I would do it with AviSynth but you could also do it with VirtualDub.

BTW I prefer VirtualDubMod over the regular version of VirtualDub.
