Hi folks,
I'm relativley new to the complexities of ffmpegX, but I have had some success converting a couple of DVDs to fit on a 256Mb card for my Palm.
To cut a long story short - my HD died on the iBook, and I've just got round to installing ffmpegX 0.0.9p on the new drive to discover it doesn't work as before.
Simply put, when I use the MPEG4 (mencoder) codec at any scale other than 720x576 (ie when I reduce the framesize for the Palm screen) it just goes ping and generates an empty AVI. If I just load my VOB file and hit encode without changing any parameters it works fine.
Closer examination of the terminal outputs show that the scaling routine appears to be trying to use AltiVec... I'm on a G3 so that won't work...
Is that my problem? The mencoder codec now requires a G4? Can I download an earlier version of ffmpegX (& mencoder) that'll run on my G3?
Thanks in advance
Steve

I don't think the G3 should be a problem. Try to post your complete process output to major4@mac.com
