  1. Hi guys,

I am trying to convert an .avi to dvd format using WinAvi.

It "encoded" it into all the various files I need to run it, but once burnt to dvd+r, and played back in standalone dvd player (which plays anything), the picture was rolling/flickering and was unwatachable.

    Any ideas?

The fps I have seen is 23.976, 576x312, NTSC.

Any ideas/suggestions as to the "set up" of winavi to give me a better chance of getting a watchable copy would be gratefully accepted.

    Regards

    Ian

  3. I've just tried another "encoder" called "D.I.K.O." & that came out exactly the same as WinAvi ..... I will now try DVDSanta & see what happens.

Should I encode it as 4:3 or 16:9 or doesn't that make any difference?

    Cheers

  4. in winavi, convert it as auto for screen.
as for dvdsanta, use 16:9 for screen, unless the video is fullscreen.-use the 16:9 for movies with black bars top and bottom..
if you live in europe, then convert with PAL,and highest res, like 720,and if your in the states then use NTSC,andwhatever the highest res is there.

  5. Hi

I am going to try DVDSanta later.

    It is an NTSC film (23.976 fps) ... 576 x 312, DX50, 8000Hz, MPEG Layer-3, 128kbs

    Any other settings I need?
