  1. Hello, need your help once again.
I wanted to create the menu with animated buttons. I made short clips that I want to be displayed in the buttons, but Encore links to these short clips, instead of linking to the timeline chapters. If I make it link to Chapters, then Encore displays beginings of these chapters, instead of my clips.

Question1: how do I make this possible in Encore? maybe there is a way around?

Question2: Is there any other programs that does that? I know ReelDVD does, but I still want to use Encore somehow. Maybe I could do this in other program and then transfer it back to Encore....

    Thanks for you responses.

  2. Thanks, I did watch this tutorial before I apporached Adobe Encore. This dosen't answer my question. In this guide it does exactly what I described, animated buttons show only beginings of chapters not the clips that I want it to show.

Can someone help me in this issues please?

I believe that you're missing an important link...
Double check that your button's properties have the correct end action...
I made a similair mistake by treating the buttons as separate timelines, rather than treating them as buttons..
Get the Properties Pallete for the button that you chose, and doublecheck the end action...

    Good luck!!

  4. Button properties don't have End Action.
There is only Link and Override.

I have one MPG file: main movie. And a few short clips, I want to use the short clips to animate buttons, but I want it to point to the chapters on the timeline of a main movie.

    Two ways of doing this.

    1) Bring up both the Main Movie Timeline, and your Main Menu with buttons shown..

Create the chapter points on the timeline, and drag the markers to each button..
By doing this, you're telling the buttons to jump to this chapter point..

Button properties don't have End Action.
There is only Link and Override.
2)Or, the same thing, is to pick the button, as mentioned earlier, and go to the LINK flyout (which is the same as end action), and pick the specific chapter..
Remember, your chapter points need to be created ahead of time...
A bit more tedious, but, as long as you get it to work..

  6. You don't seem to understand my problem. Creating chapters and linking to it is very easy and simple stuff. I need something different.
I have a few short clips that supposed to serve as button animations, but they are not supposed to be linked to.
In Encore Link jumps to a Chapter on the timecode, and also shows a part of that link in the button animation. I don't need that animation, I need to insert my own animation.

Make two buttons close to each other. One plays your little clip and does nothing more, while the other links to a chapter on the timeline.

    Contradicting statements..
But i know what you want...

Again, bring up the MAIN MOVIE timeline..
Bring up the MAIN MENU screen..

The buttons on your MAIN MENU screen represent chapter points in your MAIN MOVIE, correct??

If that's correct, then so was my previous post..
    How's about a screen shot...

One problem, when animation clip is placed in the animation button, it creates a timeline for each clip. And Each separate Timeline with a clip can be played.

I had another idea. Put all these clips together in front of the main movie, and make it all to be one MPEG file. Then I could create chapters and put Poster frames to begining of those clips for each chapter.
Then I have to get around playing the timeline from the beginning to skip those clips. Theoretically this should work, right?

You could make an animated background movie in After Effects that includes the small clips in their positions. This gets you around the Encore button link problem. This might be too much work though. Have you tried Encore's playlist features? Playlists give you a lot of flexibility and you might be able to show a certain clip in a playlist while linking to a clip in a different playlist (or link to a different clip in the same playlist)...
