I think I may already know the answer to my question but I thought I should ask here just to make sure.Is it possible to have a video thumbnail loop for say 10 secs then repeat indefinitely, while at the same time have a longer segment of audio play in the background of the menu, say 3 min?
It seems as if there is no way to bypass this and you are forced to have your audio match the duration of the video thumbnail. I was kinda hoping there is a work around to this but probably not. Thanks for any help.![]()

Should be very possible -- would be very odd for something like Encore to not allow it. Normally set the thumbnail video duration along with button properties in most apps, then set menu video/still/audio in menu properties. If you don't see a way to do it, create your own thumbnail or menu page video and use that.

Well, seems to me everytime I set up the video thumbnail for its 10 sec loop then add the audio to the menu it changes the duration setting in the menu properties from 10 sec to in my case 3 min, the length of the audio.
Could you perhaps elaborate on what you mean in your last sentence? I am kinda surprised if encore doesn't allow independent durations of audio and video considering its targeted at semi-professional use. Thanks for the help thus far. -
Just EDIT the length of the audio in soundforge(audio editor) and load edit audio to Encore.

Roma, I am not really sure how that would help me, I don't want to edit the audio down to match the video thumbnail I want the two to have independent durations from each another.
You see, I spent some time mixing together several audio segments and would like to use them if at all possible without having my video thumbnails play for the duration of the audio or vice versa, the audio getting cut off and playing only as long as the video thumbnail plays. Thanks for the input though. -
Ok
so make motion menu in Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 with thumbnail plays and sound mix as you like
Export from Premiere as mpeg2 and load to Encore as motion background
in new menu. -
If you are using an apple computer, there is a iDVD, which allows to do that. It loops your short motion menu background (let's say it is 1 minute of animation) while longer audio (let's say 4 minute song ) playing in the background of the menu, saving you time not to edit your animation over again, every time you have decided to use a different song!, plus it really makes excellent DVDs.
I recently noticed Encore gives more reddish coloring to your video in final output, and now i switched to iDVD , for these 2 reasons !
I hope this helps….
