  1. I am aware that there is a verification option after burning in Nero...but what im looking for is a tool to check for the DVDs i have already burned in which i was not able to use the verification option in Nero. What im currently doing to check the dvd is try to create an image of the disk on my hard drive...if theere is no error then i consider it a good copy and definitely wont skip in my stand alone DVD player. Some of the DVDs i have were burned using CopyToDVD...and would like to check on these...

any input guys? thanks in advance...

  2. DVDInfoPro will scan a whole DVD disc and report any read errors... This is probably what you are looking for....

DVDInfoPro can also compare a disk against a image file

  4. Scanning the surface is a reasonably good test, but surface scans will only tell you if all sectors can be read, not how well they can be read. If the drive has to drop to ½X or ¼X to read a sector, it's likely to be a glitch or dropout on playback.

Personally I think a transfer rate test is much more indicative of overall disk and burn quality. Nero CD/DVD Speed does a good job, and it's free.

I am using nero 5.5 version. Will CD/DVD speed work with that version?

  7. CD/DVD Speed is stand-alone. It'll work even if you don't have Nero.

Thanks skebenin. I downloaded it and checked a few of my backups. Fortunately they looked good.
