  1. Hi,

I am newbie so please excuse my ignorance on the following topic:

I have a whole bunch of avi and mpeg video files on my hardrive which I am interested into placing onto DVD format and eventually get DVD video playback. I tried using Nero 6 to add these files onto the cue to burn but only some of the MPEG files actually were selected.

My question is what program or guide here can I use that will show me how to burn these files onto SVCD form. I'd rather place them on CD-R's for now until I get the hang of it and then attempt to get much better quality in picture by transfering them over to DVD format. Thanks.

You could try searching in the guides under "avi to svcd" like here: https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?tools=&madeby=&formatconversionselect=AVI+to+SVCD&...or+List+Guides

  4. First learn what DVD-compatible video is, and more importantly is not. Second ascertain what types and formats of video you currently have. Then examine the guides which cover the conversions you require.

Would recommend that for those files which justify DVD conversion, other than lo-res MPG1, do it that way first rather than going thru two conversions. This will require yet more reading and study in order to make that decision. Most internet downloads are barely VCD quality, tho some are of hi resolution enough to justify DVD conversion. Framerates will be a problem for most of your Net files. Good luck.

I second the recommendations from Nelson37. All I'll add is to uise AVICodec or GSpot to get the required info on your files.
