  1. have had over a year with no problems. have not changed system BUT drawer will not open and light continually flashes but is not spinning. have disk inside but says insert disk. any suggestions

    Just a suggestion, but have you tried restarting the computer?

  5. Have you tried putting a pin in that hole in front to push the disk out? Thats what its there for.

  6. this has happened to me also, it happened about a month ago. i emailed sony and all they had to tell me was send it in for repair(which i havent done). and to get the disc out you have to take the face plate off and wind the cogs manually. im now saving for a newer dual layered drive, i see no point in having it repaired.

    this is common with the dru510a, search this site or google for other peoples experiences

    it happened to mine and i sent it back and got a replacement

    use a paperclip to get the cd out, poke it in the little hole on the front of the face

    bottom line is its cactus

  8. out of warranty and have restarted computer a number of times and have previously removed disk manually and re inserted it to see if it cured problem. no joy. seems totally cattle trucked.

    I've been having problems with my Sony DRU510AK lately too. I thought it was SP2 so I formatted and went back to SP1 (XP Pro) but I still can't play DVDs. Thinking this drive might be dodgy. It still writes and read pretty much any disc except for DVDs, but that's not too useful.

  10. sony now in bin. new pioneer dvi108 dual layer dual format working. the dogs b***. and only £65. thanks for all responses. the sony is dead long live the pioneer..
