    Hello,
    Been reading but still can't find a DVD player. Recommendations appreciated. Under $150.00 and compatible with + & - DVDs.

    I just bought a JVC myself because of the direct drive spindle motor, far superior to those cheap DC brush motors most players use. Paid $40 on e-bay from Sears liquidation. Plays all formats fine.

    Get a denon refurb at www.ecost.com they play both - and + with no problems and they are an excellent value.

    i did a search with your requirements and came up with 2213 results

    The Philips DVP 642 is what you want. It'll play pretty much anything including DIVX and XVID. The player is easily region-free hacked and supports firmware upgrades. It'll run you $75 at Walmart.

    I know a couple of years ago I got a Mintek 1600 for 50 bucks after everyone raved about them....
    Is this Phillips the new Mintek?
