Need serious HELP on selecting MUSIC

I was hired to film a high school prom last month.

I have a 20min segment of the prom-kids coming down the "redcarpet" if you will..... I need help putting background music to this 20mins....

The prom was held on a Riverboat. The "theme" of the prom was 1920's films BUT if I put this to 1920's music EVERYONE WILL GAG AND PUKE.

I absolutely suck at selecting music....is there any COOL current songs like the kids will like? thats NOT rap....about killing your grandmother and cops.

Any ideas? I asked the "Junior Class President" and she said to do Frank Sinatra song's but past "NY, NY" I dont know much from him. HELP!

one idea is to rip a few of the songs off the videoyou have that were played at the prom and place them over the segment.

anything from frank is popular, luck be a lady tonight would work . "ragtime" music might fit. this is without knowing what was played atthe prom.

If they selected a 1920's theme, the one's that gag and puck are stupid...
The music from the '20's would be fine in my opinion...
Why select an era and then "gag and puck" ????
Do a search for '20's music...
Besides the pic's didn't look '20's.........
How could someone born in the 80's (or 90's) or so know what the '20's where like...

suits every occasion.

could also use sinatra doing "As time Goes By"
I like "Nancy".

How about "Love and Marriage"

There was the Cole Porter movie recently,
you could pull music off that with modern singers doing Porter.

How about the Offspring doing "Feelings"

Plenty to go with for young.

Should probably use at least one song from the/a local band,
if not the whole sopundtrack.
