  1. I notice when I convert VHS to DVD I get more of the video than originally shown on the tv. Is there a way to keep the VHS to the original size it shows on the tv so I don't get the tracking line along the bottom.

What you are seeing is head switching noise from the VCR. This is normal. It is only viewable on a PC monitor not a TV. The noise is outside the TV's viewable area called the overscan. Do nothing. You won't see it on a TV. If YOU DO see it on a TV, it's most likely an older set that is out of adjustment vertically (I have a set like this)

If it really bugs you, since you are already in an excellent editing program, you could crop the video so this is gone. It's really not necessary though IMHO.

  3. I will just leave it, It takes a long time to crop an entire video.

You could create a simple overlay in photoshop to cover the noise. A number of member shave recommended removing this noise because it can take up precious data when encoding, therefore eating into your bitrate.

  5. I haven't tried an overlay, but I will give it a shot on my next video.

    Thanks

  6. I've started using TMPEGENC, and have been using the "mask" feature. It will let you cover up those lines, without cropping.
