Save time - DVD recorder hands down.
Picture Quality - can be better on a computer if you're good at it and with the right equipment. With a recorder it's pretty easy to get good results

    Hello,

One bonus of having an computer dvd recorder is you can backup your data on a 4.37 gb dvd disc AND backup your dvd movies.

Of course, you need a capture card on your computer also to record your movies, obviously.
