I have used ULEAD VideoStudio 5 and the DVD plugin for some time. I am interested in the Movie Factory software because it allows loading multiple source files (SVCD, VCD, or DVD) each with it's own menu. You can also add music to the menus.
The good news, it really is a nice package and makes what can be a challenging process pretty easy. In short, this is quite a bargain for the price.
WARNING - In the trial download version, if you use the Video Toolbox portion, the Batch Conversion process for SVCD produces a non-compliant file. This is not mentioned anywhere and I had to call ULEAD to find out. Their technical help seemed less than positive but indicated that they believed this is disabled in the trial package.
WARNING 2 - If I use their default burning app (I think it is called MMC) then my burn always crashes prior to completion with a "Drive Not Ready". If I switch to "NTI" version, it works every time.

I bought the full version of Movie Factory and also had a multitude of problems. Be warned that you will be a part of the testing cycle of this not yet mature product. If it works for you then you are lucky but don't expect tech support to be much help. I prefer to wait and let someone else be the guinea pig. I wish Ulead the best since there is a need for this type of program.
I returned Movie Factory for a refund. Good luck!

I tried DVD MovieFactory on both WinMe and Windows 2000 on my dual boot PC. I got a DLL error message on both with trying to add MPEG file. I don't know if it is a problem with my hardware or not.
I use Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 w/ DVD Plug-In on my Windows 2000 with only 1 problem. My finished disc plays great in DVD player, Win ME but not Win2000. -

I am using the purchased version of DVDMF. Normally I use the Ligos LSX35 encoder but to look at your problem I used the DVDMF Batch Conversion process for SVCDs and it worked fine for me. I assume the 'non compliant' message was posted by the Authoring module.
The reason for a choice on cd burner drivers is Ulead is developing their own drivers so they can respond quicker to user's problems. Currently they are giving you the choice between the Ulead driver or the NTI driver. The NTI driver was the only driver used in the DVD Plug-in.
Personally I have had very good responses from Ulead tech support. They have sent me patches etc. It may take a couple of notes before you get a answer because their first line of defense assumes you installed it improperly. Also make sure your burner is listed in the compatable drives.

This makes me scratch my head, I'm only new to this VCD thing but just recently completed a conversion from 11/2 hour VHS to VCD using Movie Factory with no problem at all during the stage I saved the movie using Movie Factory conversion and it played fine in MS media player and PowerDVD also NTI CD maker was prepared to burn the mpeg file which it won't if non compliant.
Tonight I'm about to finish off my first SVCD after ripping a number of music DVD's but in doing a trial on a small file everything worked as it should.
I have nothing but praise for Movie Factory as a very easy to use suite of programs.
I rip using smartripper or capture using Virtualdub, If it's DVD I convert the VOB using dvd2avi and tmpng then polish with Movie Factory - if avi straight into Movie Factory for editing, chapters and burning. -
Was wondering... I used Uleads Video Studio which worked good at making menus for VCD's. My problem was that my DVD player seems to only play VCD's that are non-standard Sefy's SEVCD template type w/ no hicups. Anyway, Ulead Video studio 5.0 would NOT accept this type of mpeg w/ the DVD plugin! Does this Ulead Video Factory accept files of this type MPEG?? Really would appreciate an answer if someone knows.

Download and isntall the DVD Power Patch at:
http://www.ulead.com/tech/dvd_ftp.htm
This will aloow the DVD Plug-in the make XVCDs and XSVCDs. -
Guys here is my problem. I've downloaded a ton of episodes in mpeg quality to burn to VCD CDs. Most of the files are VCD compatible but some seem to be SVCD compatible. Now in Nero there is an option to ignore compatibility and burn anyways but in ULead DVD MovieFactory I get ready to burn and it says invalid file type. Does this mean DVD MovieFactory does not support the mixing of VCD and SVCD files regardless that they play perfectly fine on my DVD player?
Thanks,
Scott -
I am using this product and like it overall. However, when writing both DVD's and VCD's, I am getting choppy Audio. I am bringing in an AVI file (whick is not choppy) into Movie Factory. Any ideas?

I too get DLL error messages when attempting to add known good MPEG files to the Ulead DVD Movie Factory layout screen:
DVDWIZD executed an invalid instruction in
module MPLVM6.DLL at 0167:04c2a8dd.
Registers:
EAX=0000003e CS=0167 EIP=04c2a8dd EFLGS=00010297
etc....
Does this look familiar? I have re-installed several times and it continues. Did you ever find out what this is related too? Ulead tech support sucks... you can only call them during business hours (which I cannot do) and the tech support e-mail link on their web page is broken!
I have 3 or 4 other Ulead products and have never had to contact them for support. This program has proven to be unusable to me and I paid $50 for the privelege... they still haven't sent me my "backup" CD after 40 days of waiting too!
