  1. I have searched this page and google for some help with theese questions.
I found a program at some 222 company, but their site is down.

So my question is, do you have or know any programs that can convert the audio from a DVD to a .ac3 file? With full surround.

The same question goes to the DivX, that has a ac3 audio track.

Thx for all your help so far!

Not too sure what your asking, as the audio on a DVD is already usually an AC3 file in surround, what is the file your wanting to convert.

And there are a few programs that will convert to AC3 Surround.

Besweet and ffmpeggui are the best free ones, but the free ones are not the greatest of quality, especially if you have a good HT setup or a Pioneer DVD player

    Hello,

You could also use dvd decrypter to stream process just the .ac3 file from a dvd if that is what your asking.

    Hello,

dvd is ac3 (unless it's dts or pcm but most of the time it's ac3).

If you make the divx yourself you can include ac3 but if you download it the only way to know if it has ac3 is to use avicodec or gspot.

Do the Movies you have contain AC3 or DTS 5.1, because if they're only stereo mp3's,WMA or Ogg Vorbis, then you cant make them 5.1 surround.

Well technically you can, but its a long monotonaus process that produces results no better than what a Surround receiver can do on the fly.

If the DVD/DIVX's you have already have 5.1 sound, then you dont have to re-encode them, just extrract them with VirtualDubMod for Divx or DVD Decrypter or DVD2AVI for DVD's.

  7. Ok, i try again :P

I know that DVD is allready in AC3 format. But i want to use the sound in Sony Vegas 5 and DVD architect. So i have to convert them in to a file with a .ac3 ending. Example: 'mysound.ac3' (like 'mysound.mp3')

I dont want to encode the DivX TO DivX AC3. I want to convert the audio-part of the DivX file in to 'mysound.ac3'.

Sony Vegas and DVD Architect wont read my DivX ac3 codec. So i cant just add them in to the program.

    to convert them
What does "them" represent in this sentence?
I want to convert the audio-part of the DivX file in to 'mysound.ac3'.
If the audio of the DivX is already AC3, all you have to do is extract it with VirtualDub.
If not, you can extract it, convert whatever format it is to wav, then encode to AC3 with ffmpeggui

Well im assuming you have the ripped vobs on your HD, if you have load them into DVD2AVI, then go to Audio, select Track1, which will more than likely be the AC3 sound, then Channel Format - Auto Select, then Dolby Digital and set it to Demux, that part is important.

Now go to File and down to Save Project, and in a few minutes you will end up with a d2v file and an AC3 file, to do what you please with.

For DIVX load the AVI into VirtualDubMod, go to Streams, select your audio and click on Demux, give it a name and it will output the AC3 only.

    Hope this helps
