    hi guys.....

i reencode alot of pal svcds to ntsc dvd with no problem.....but occasionally i get one that no matter what i do i cant get the sync right....on these occasions i have tried both reencoding with just the TMPGenc template provided...and splitting the file to work on both with besweet.gui and AVI2DVD...

this process has worked for me many times and i am doing nothing different on these occasions....is there any way i can check the mpg and repair any problems that might cause it?

The best way to check is watch the video,if you've done this lots of times then you should have noticed any mistakes by now.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  5. What I woudl try is to reencode the video in the same format that it is in; i.e. SVCD NTSC => SVCD NTSC

I have tried this in the past and it has worked out.

    The problem is like this..

If the NTSC to PAL conversion (originally) was done poorly (or boarderline, to
that point that you don't notice it or much) then you're chances are negative.

Once you start speeding things up or slowing things down, and/or changing
the FPS to another number and/or in combination w/ audio, reversing this
whole process can sometimes be forgotten (if done poorly, as most likely in
    your case)

At best, you'll probably get close, but never hit that high note.

    Good luck,

i finally figured out the problem....the template for svcd ntsc film(23.97fps)....wont work sometimes for the audio....if i use the svcd ntsc 29.97fps it works out ok....

does anyone know how i can prevent any future mistakes....23.97 cuts 2 hours of reencoding for me(if it works)

    ------UPDATE-----

using tmpgenc to create an identical file to work with helps occasionally but doesnt always work.....its time consuming and frustrating .....it seems to be one specific source that gives me most of the problems....i cant do anything about avoiding that source.....again.....i noticed the audio and video are runnig at different frame ratesafter encoding.....the gaps in the sync are longer at the end of the files.....also i get alot of stuck frames even after using vcdgear to fix the mpgs

are there any other programs out there to edit mpgs?.....im tired of using tmpgenc

  11. Well you see, if I remember correctly, you are working with SVCD's. I had some problems a whiles back with cutting off the end of the video when changing framerates. I then frameserved with DVD2AVI and it worked like a champ. It is in my tutorial.

    machine.....

thanx for the guide and the help after....it turns out that i gave up....i figured a new way to convert in real time.....i have an apex dvd player with an internal converter....i just bought a capture card and sent the movie through it.....it converted instantaniously and only took as long as the movie lasted......1.5 hours....cant beat that.....even editing is easier with the software included.....cap wiz

    thanx again
