Hi guys. Have had this model now about 2 months & am very pleased with the quality on VHS & laserdisc recording. However I have run into a problem with cable/broadcast recording. I have connected my cable to this machine through the coax input & have noticed that the picture, on all channels has a distracting horizontal band of light red that moves from the bottom of the screen & up to the top over & over. I recorded some VHS tapes using the coax input & there was no band. It's only on the cable channels. The cable goes through a converter box before it hits my recorder, if that helps. Any suggestions would be great. Not sure if this is common on this model or any other DVD recorders.
Plus would like any suggestions on an inexpensive way to get this model to record older tapes more smoothly.
Thanks.

Try a signal filter or booster you can get them at radio shack very cheap. They get hooked up between the incoming cable signal to the cable box but before you do anything try good quality coax rg6 cables which are double shielded which can also be the problem, experiment and see what happens I hope this helps because I had the same trouble and the before mentioned remedy worked for me.

Overall, how do you like the Pioneer DVR-220?
I'm looking at getting one for the office to start dumping all of our VHS Video Surveillance tapes to.
VHS is taking up too much room and I can get some bulk DVD's cheaper than the tapes.
Thanks
