I'm going to use my DVR-220 to convert all the VHS-Cs I've taken of my kids over the past years. As an input to the DVR, am I better off:
using the camcorder that made about 1/3 of the tapes,
buying a S-VHS machine with TBC/DNR (off eBay),
using my existing el cheapo VCR, or
I do have an older one that is huge and weighs about 15#s!?
Or will it really not make much difference since these tapes are from 5 to almost 15 y/o?
I'm planning on going from the DVR to my PC via a an RW disk, and using my PC to edit/splice etc, then burn to a -R disk. I'm leaning toward Womble since my editing will just be removing scenes here and there, and joining tapes that are associated in time or event. Any comments with regard to this choice or recommendations are also appreciated.
thanks,
sd

You are basically just trying to get the best playback quality. Any playback differences between any of the options listed above will be obvious during playback. If you are satisfied with the quality of what you already have, then there is not reason to get anything else. Unless the tapes or in bad condition, buying one of the better S-VHS machines won't yield much benefit.
