  1. -demux xvid

    -re-encode only video to mpeg-2 (dvd)

    -multiplex mpeg-2 (dvd) video with ac3 file from the demuxed xvid

    -shouldn't this work? i did it before, but i think there was osmething wrong the length - the video got cut short or something.

    Yes, this should work. Optionally, or preferably, let your DVD authoring app multiplex the two streams (video and audio) together, assuming it accepts seperate streams.

    yep. don't do any framerate conversion(ntsc to pal or vice versa)
