  1. hi

I have 2 DivX movies that I thought i should add to 1 DVD-R disc so that I could watch it on my Panasonic DVD player in the living room. I have searched for a tutorial regarding what I need to do, but havent found one that tells me how to do exactly what I want (or with free software), and before I pay for any software, I would like to be sure that there really isnt any free alternative. So I am asking here, where the experienced people are.

The problem is I dont know how to do it. I belive I need to encode the movies again so that it is MPEG-2 and I need the sound to be good AC3 (because my Panasonic DVD player is very picky on AC3 and doesnt want to play MP2 at all). My movies are PAL versions (atleast I belive so, hard to say with DivX) and I would like to keep them PAL versions on the DVD. And I also need to make a Menu for the DVD so that when I pop it inn, it will ask me which of the movies I want to play.

All of this I would like to do only with free software (or as much free software as possible)
Is this possible or am I asking for to much?
Incase I can do this, how should I do it?
    What do I need?

    Thanx

    Search Comp PM
ffmpegGUI - Load the AVI, convert to ac3

TMPGEnc - choose the PAL DVD template, load the AVI file, leave the audio blank. Use the bitrate calc on this site to determine the best bitrate for you.

TMPGEnc DVD Author - Create new project, add file, when the box pops up browse audio and find your ac3 file. Make a simple menu.

If the resulting DVD is too large use DVD Shrink to er..shrink. TMPGEnc and TMPGEnc DVD Author are not free but you can get trial versions.
