  1. Hi there...

I'm a newbie to all of this really but I seem to have learned the basic fundamentals from reading around and such. However I do have a question that is a small problem i've had with Sony's DVD Architect 2.0 and I'm hoping someone can help me with it.

When I import an AVI to my current project and I go through them looking at them and setting up chapters, etc., I find that sometimes DVDA2 drops frames from the video portions...I dont' know why it does this. Does anyone else know about this? Its become annoying.

I really enjoy DVDA2, I think its a great program to use but this is the only problem I have with this.

I hope someone can help me!

    Thanks!
    Alex

In DVDA2 you need to have "compliant" files or it will re-encode. You need to have an MPEG file that is muxed with no audio and it's accompanied audio file (a separate AC3 file).

If you are using Vegas 5 (which I assume you are since you're using DVDA2), edit your AVI file to your liking then when you choose "Render As", select the DVD Architect Template for the Video, then render the audio as AC3. This will give you your 2 compliant files (Video and audio) When I do this way, DVDA2 completes my authored project in about 12 minutes, no hassles and everything is great.

I know this is a late response, so I hope this helps. But if you need more help, PM me...not many people here use this authoring tool, but I love it.

  3. joecav nailed it. I always use Vegas 5 first unless the vid file is already Mpeg2 and is only an hour or so, because DVDA2 sometimes loses sync on non-compliant Mpeg2's longer than 90 minutes.
