I ripped a vob file from DVD using DVD Shrink and made sure the subtitle stream was included. I played the file in VLC, the subtitles are there. Now I want to edit this file in Sony Vegas and then import/burn it with Sony DVD Architect, including the subtitles. After renaming the vob to mpg and importing it in Vegas, I don't see the subtitles. I also tried importing the vob directly into DVD Architect and then tried to import the subtitles as well, but DVD-A needs a .sub file.
So how do I extract a .sub file from the .vob file? Or is there another, better way to do what I want to do?

DVD Architect needs text based .subs, it will also import .txt file.
This is a sub file exported directly from DVD Architect in .sub format.

I used Vobsub to rip the closed captions from stargate sg1 since it didn't contain any english subs. It produced several .srt files. You can use Subtitle workshop to convert .srt to Adobe Encore .txt file but it won't import properly into DVD Architect. For example, I noticed that in the .txt based sub file everything that is on one line will import nicely, but if it has a line break like sub event 2 and 3 it will discard the lines underneath the event time line. Very confusing since that .txt file was exported from DVD Architect.Code:00:00:06:12 00:00:11:12 Text 00:00:23:24 00:00:28:24 Sample text 00:00:43:39 00:00:48:39 this is sample text

I've checked 3 different text based SUB files and 3 different TXT files, and this is about the closest to what you've shown:
In SubRip it's called FAB Subtitler.txt. If that's not it, you can use a different authoring program that accepts subs in a more common format. You can author, but without subs, and then add in the subs later on, perhaps following one of the methods outlined in Baldrick's guide:00:06:44:06 00:06:46:01
But why are you staying up so late?

Or perhaps someone else that's worked with subs and DVD Architect will see your thread and help. -
