Poser on the ADS Pyro A/V Link and DV

Working on some test and have the following questions so far:

1) Which playback DV Codex is the best?
2) Is there a bug about field order under firmware 3.0.
3) Is there a "noize" on solid colors?
4) Does it have a small black stripes on the side for the frame.
5) A bit of croma noize.
6) A complex background being zoomed in or out looks like a VCD mpeg1 shot. IE is there enough band width or chipset power to do this?

So far it seem solid in both audio and video.

No synch errors. Even after 5+hours!.

No drops frames no mater how bad the source quality. And I do mean bad quality.

Color is pretty good. Maybe a bit more saturated like the old kodacrome film.

Ok with a cheep DV io card { Via Based }. Even running on a W98Se system.

Works ok even with an old copy of AVI_IO. WinDV seems to the best of the downloadable capture programs.

For DV files type 2, Panasonic looks the best for me. I have not really tested DV files type 1.

Still using the old firmware.

3) Is there a "noize" on solid colors?

I have seen a bit on VHS captures, but this could be related to VHS noise. I will try some captures from T2 from Laser disk and DVD. I will try it during the weekend.

4) Does it have a small black stripes on the side for the frame.

Yes and this is normal from VHS captures.

5) A bit of croma noize.

I use my Panasonic E-55 as a TBC, between the VHS and ADS Pyro A/V. I cannot really capture directly from the VHS because of too many lost frames (problem of the old firmware). I have seen some croma noise but it could be related to the comb filters in the Panasonic. I will capture portions of a movie from a Laserdisc through the Pani E-55 and directly from A/V. Probably I’ll be able to tell witch one is better.

6) A complex background being zoomed in or out looks like a VCD mpeg1 shot. IE is there enough band width or chipset power to do this?

Yippy! Videohelp it back on line!

1) In the process of trying out the others. So far the XP from Microsoft look pritty good.

2) Saw on one of the specific ADS forum sites that had a remark about a bug concering frame order in the new 3.0 some times.

3) The noise is kind of hard to describe. Kind of like the surface of water in a 3d person game.

4) Feed it with anything and get the following borders:
Left 0,0 - 7,480
Bottom 0,476 - 719,479
Right 715,0 - 719, 479

Been using the Video Essentials disk. Some of this could be how it handles a 4:2:2 signals but notest about the same capturing from a non-descrambler cable converter. Need to generate a test disk myself.

Hi, I have done some testing capturing from Laser disk and two different DVD players. Depending on the source I have from 4 black pixels on the border to 8 black pixels in the vertical border. So at least with the old firmware I do not feel that the black stripes are a bug. I would blame it on the source.

I tested capturing the whole THX test patter from a DVD movie. It was Ok and I was not able to identify noise on solid colors. Probably I will capture my Laser disk essential test pattern and I’ll get back to you.

Been a bit crazt around her. I have a test disk for the LD player and when time am working on a test DVD of different patterns and level of noize.
