I finally got my Encodign and capture settings figured out and very good results.

however, I did a few files then went back to review them and noticed the sound was off by a second or so at the end. I use IuVCR to capture with.

I have it setup like Lordsmurf recommends and still have sync issues. Anyone know what to do so fix this?

I think you're dropping frames. Are you?
If not, use something else. Can you use VirtualDub?
I've got a lot of guides to upload today, that may be one of the new ones. A bit brief, but does the deed.

I dropped 0 frames. In fact I don't think I've ever seen it drop frames. I cannot use VD as I use XP. Wrappers don't work.

I went to IuVCR casue I was told it would never get out of sync. Oh well.

I tried VirtualDub but it does not show the Pinnacle drivers as an option.

I tried Vegas' capture program but it was buggy and kept crashing.

I tried MainConcept to capture with. It does not allow me to use 368x480 as an option so I tried 480x480 and 640x480. It captured the same tape I tried with IuVCR and the sound was perfect all teh way through.

I figured I would try MC to encode and compare times to TMPGEnc Plus.

    TMPGEnc took 1h 42m.
    MC took 1h 58m.

I cannot tell the difference between the two on teh PC, haven't tried them on teh DVD player yet. It must be VD slowing it down. MC is usually MUCH faster.

PS Now I just need to get IuVCR to work properly or find a hack to allow a 368x480 capture with MC.

I tried those but they broke the functionality of the TV tuner. I use that a lot.

Mainconcept seems to hold sync quite well, I just need to figure out how to get custom capture sizes with it.

Have you tried capturing to avi? Or using a different audio codec or lower resolution? Although I have not tried btwincap (I have 98), it has been updatded recently and may have fixed your problem.

It is AVI and it's 368x480. As low as I can go with BT878 chipset.

MC seems to work, just doesn't have the ability to do custom capture resolutions. There appears to be no help from IuVCR's website.
    Thanks!

Are you using Huffy codec or Picvideo? The resolution limit is not a function of the card. Mine will go much lower using Winfastpvr. Although your resolution should be low enough. What audio codec are you using?

I'm using PicVideo at 19. I also tried Huffy. It's not a lmitation of the card, but a functional issue with teh BT878 chipset once you drop below 360 horizontal rezolution. It has a internal filter that really trashes the quality. Capture above 360, then resize to 352 and the picture is terrific.

I'm hoping once I ever get a response from IuVCR support, maybe I will use that application again. UNtil then, Mainconcept is working.

    Thanks!!
