Being the cheap bastard that I am I'm wondering when we will see a price drop on desktop DVD writers .... similar to what we've seen on PC writers?

    Hello,

Check the weekend ads for BestBuy, Circuit City, Compusa, etc... I've seen combo rebate deals for Celeron 2.5ghz for near $300USD! Some wiht monitor! The harddrive and ram sizes are miniscule and would need upgrading but those are pretty cheap these days. Most seem to only have cdburners but you can just drop in your old dvd burner.

--Most are no names but the real companies are pretty cheap too. Basic Dells start at $500.--
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

    Hello,

Sorry, my fault. I would imagine if demand is high enough the drop should come shortly. Part availibility doesn't seem to be a problem for writers. Good luck hunting

There are some down to under $150, by or after Christmas they should be $100 or less.
