I've recently bought the above which I'm using in conjunction with my Technics SA-AX6 Stereo Amplifier.

The Technics has a dedicated 6 CH DVD facility and I have connected the Ronin 5.1 channel audio output jacks to the corresponding 6 CH input jacks on the amplifier.

Everything is working fine apart from the fact that the dialogue (centre speaker) seems quiet and is over powered by the surround speakers, which are just above our heads when sitting down, (these are brilliant for picking up sound efects). My wife is finding it very hard to hear the dialogue and turning the volume up only increases the problem.

At the moment I have Downmix turned OFF in the Speaker Setup but if I set this to V.Surr the dialogue is much louder and clearer but I lose the rear speaker output and get a pseudo surround effect which is good but not the real thing!

The Technics does not have separate volume controls for the speakers other than balance so I can't make any adjustments there.

I accept that because the amplifier is a few years old now it may be the way the amplifier processes the sound that's the problem and as such there is not cure but I'd like to see if I can improve the 5.1 sound if possible.

I also know that problems with hearing the dialogue are quite common especially if the DVD hasn't been mixed properly but even so I would have thought the dialogue would be more brilliant rather than subdued as it is at the moment on the DVDs I've played. My old Kiiro player didn't seem to suffer so badly from this and was connected the same way.

If anyone can help I'd be much obliged.

    Thanks

    Hi thanks for the reply.

    All connectors are properly made.

I've been reading the manual and I think there may be a way to adjust the volume of the speakers by going into setup and emitting a test tone. I'm going to look into that more.

Also the centre speaker has a centre focus switch but I've never noticed any difference whether this is switched on or off.

I'm watching the DVDs on a Ronin P807 and using the amp just for sound.
